Alex Makes The Grade

Israeli pole-vaulter Alex Averbukh earned his ticket to Bejing on Friday as he achieved the qualifying minimum of 5.55 meters.

Siberian-born Averbukh entered the minds and hearts of Israelis in a big way in August of 2003, as he claimed Israel's first ever European Athletics Championship gold medal in competition in the Munich Olympic Stadium exactly thirty years after the slaughter of the eleven Israeli athletes and coaches in the Munich Olympics by Palestinian Black September terrorists.

Good luck to Alex and the whole Israeli team!
